Garden Project COMPLETED!!

It only took us FOUR years, but we finally did something with our corner garden instead of just letting the weeds have their way with it. The previous owners had a large vegetable garden, but neither Perk or I were interested in planting, growing or maintaining that large of an area for vegetables.

Last August when we bought the trampoline the corner area because its home. I got so sick of all the weeds that kept growing that we decided to finally landscape it.

First step: mow the weeks!!

 2nd step: weed barrier!

Sorry for the bad picture. I had my camera on the wrong setting!

Next Step: Mulch. And LOTS of it!

We also dug up the pavers that were in the lawn by the fence gates and placed them in our new area.

Add some Lily's and Hosta's and you're done!!
I also planted Burning Bush, Crazy-Eyed Susan and Hydrandia bushes. It should grow nice and full and have lots of color!!
We moved my swing over, added more pavers and planted lily's and hostas around.

All done!! No more crazy weeds and the kids complaining about the weed stickers. Now it's a nice area to relax and enjoy the garden in.

Little Miss Independent

This one keeps me on my toes.

She is hard headed, stubborn and very temperamental. But underneath that tough exterior she is a GIANT cuddle bug and mama's girl who wants nothing more than you to just play with her.

When she calls me Mom, it sounds like Ma'am. When she wants to swing she says "Push me in the sky ma'am"!

She loves Nemo, calls horses "neigh's" and loves to steal Chris's hat from him. She'd rather walk than ride in the stroller, ducks are something you chase and she could live off chocolate milk and string cheese if given the chance.

The tough part is she wants to be one of the BIG GIRLS and play with Anna and her friends. A little sister can be quite the drag didn't you know? Especially when that little sister is only TWO.

I think she's great!

Wearing Dad's shoes. Big shoes to fill right there!

Abby LOVES babies. She takes them everywhere. I bet this kid owns 12 baby dolls!

See what I mean about trying to be a big kid? She grabbed the neighbor girls scooter and off she went!

The other day she picked up Anna's little play backpack, brought it over to me and said "I go to school". Just like Anna, she wanted to wear a little backpack.

She's getting big! In the last few weeks her height seems to have sprouted up and all the sudden she's talking a whole lot more. Her little imagination is in full bloom. The other morning she had all her Pet Shop pet's lined up and had them talking to each other. Pretty darn funny to watch!

The words of a 5 year old

There are moments that Anna says things to me that just stops me in my tracks.

I'm making breakfast this morning she she stops, turns to me and says "Mom, I miss my grandpa's. They were such great men."

Mom, I'm going to need a bath tonight. I think that's my feet that stink!

Anna: Mom, can I have a puppy? I promise I'll feed it and play with it everyday!
Mom: We already have a dog and you don't feed her as it is.
Anna: Mom. Bear is YOUR dog.

Anna: Mom, I want to take the day off from school and Debi's.
Mom: Honey, you can't be home by yourself alone.
Anna: Mom! I can take care of myself. I can make my own lunch.
Unfortunately if left alone, her lunch would consist of pop-tarts, strawberry milk and jell-o!

This morning I told her she could ride her scooter to Debi's if she wanted. Since school is out this week for Kindergarten I figured she could play outside with the neighbor kids. So I drove along side her as she scooted her way up the street.

Mom: Anna you need to pick up the speed a bit (she started off quite slow!)
Anna: Mom, I'm in flip flops!

Anna's class was having career week and she'd come home telling me about the parents that came in: a police man, a doctor, a cake baker.
Mom: Anna, what do I do for my job?
Anna: You do things for your boss and he gives you money.

Anna: Mom will you buy this?
Mom: No honey, I don't have any money right now.
Anna: Just go to your boss and tell him you need the money to buy it.

This kid cracks me up!

I've Been Tagged!

THE RULES:
1. Post these rules
2. Post 11 random things about yourself
3. Answer the questions provided by the one who tagged you
4. Create 11 new questions for the people you tag
5. Tag 11 people

11 Random Things About Me:
1. I’m quite the smart ass. I love making people laugh and love joking around. I love looking like I’m so innocent and when they least expect it I say something that completely catches a person off guard.

2. I actually enjoy weeding the garden. Something out being able to purge the ugly/unwanted and
that feeling of “completion” when it’s done makes me feel good.

3. I’m a control freak. I like things done my way, on my time.

4. I do enjoy fishing…just not the same way Chris does. My ideal fish trip is sitting in a boat, in the middle of a calm lake. Sun shining, birds chirping and an orange soda in hand.

5. All of my aunts and uncles are still married. We’ve had deaths in the family, but no divorce with aunt/uncles. That’s rare.

6. I think I’m a bad ass when I drive the Jeep. Come on! A chick riding around in a supped up Jeep, with the top down and tunes blaring = BADASS!!

7. I save gift bags with the intent of reusing, but never do. I have a huge file drawer FULL of
gift bags for pretty much any occasion.

8. I will scrape the bottom of the lotion/shampoo/conditioner/foundation bottles before I throw them away and open a new one.

9. I have to sleep in absolute silence. I wear ear plugs about 85% of the time. Even the sound of
Chris breathing at night will keep me up. I buy Kroger ear plugs like they are crack!

10. When I can’t fall asleep I think about what I would do if I won the lottery. I visualize the homes I’d buy for my family (us, mom & sister). I play out in my head how I’d tell them I won and how I’d surprise them with new homes!

11. Turning 40 scares the hell out of me. Guess I have 3 years to work on that one huh?!

What has been your favorite book/series of books that you've read so far?
My favorite book of all time is the Giving Tree. I know it’s a kids book, but I fell in love with it
when I was little and have given it as gifts quite a few times.

If you could recommend one restaurant to anybody, what would it be?
I really love Thaifoon Taste of Asia at the Gateway mall.

What is the strangest talent you have?
My toes are like little fingers. I use them a lot when my hands are full!

What is one thing you want to accomplish in your life?
Being back down to a smaller size. I’ve gained a lot of weight over the years being lazy and by having unhealthy eating habits. I’d really like to get to a point where I can wear clothes and feel comfortable in my own skin.

What is your favorite weird food combination?
I love a tall glass of milk when I eat pizza!! Yummy!

What is your favorite body part?
I used to have some killer calves back in the day. I was once complemented on them by a fitness instructor YEARS ago. I’d like to get them back!

What do you do to stay entertained when bored?
I garden. When I’m bored and the weather will allow, I love walking my backyard and planning things out. I think I get this from my parents. They used to walk the garden edge and talk about what they want to change, add in, remove.

What has been your favorite achievement in life?
Becoming a mom. Hands down!

What do you think would be the hardest thing you'd have to give up?
Smoking! What a horrible, horrible addiction. I smoked for 9 years and quit and haven’t looked back. I can honestly say that is one thing I will NEVER do again in my life.

If your house caught fire, what do you know you'd grab and save?
My children and dog first. Then wedding photos.

What is your favorite hobby?
Walking. I LOVE walking. Just being out in the sun, moving my body. Does that count as a hobby if I don't do it very much? I need to pick this hobby back up!

Now for my questions:
1. What is your all time favorite movie?
2. If you could recommend one restaurant to anybody, what would it be?
3. What is the strangest talent you have?
4. What is one thing you want to accomplish in your life?
5. What is your favorite weird food combination?
6. What is your favorite body part?
7. Who is your hero or role model?
8. What is your favorite thing to do, place to go when you need to just "get away"?
9. What do you think would be the hardest thing you'd have to give up?

10. If your house caught fire, what do you know you'd grab and save?
11. What is your favorite hobby?

Look Who Turned 30!

Okay so maybe I'm not 30 again. A girl can wish can't she?
For my birthday we celebrated with a FOUR hour dinner at Biaggi's at the Gateway with the Tamagawa's and Wheatley's.
As always there was a plethora of head jokes and short people jokes.
Anna told me I could be a Princess for my birthday. So I was. She made sure I wore the crown and all!

Jodi broke my blog!

So apparently me being the funny aunt I am, and posting silly pictures for Jodi to laugh at while she's recovering from having her tonsils removed, was the culprit for the messed up blog!

I know nothing about writing HTML code so the only other option was to try and remember when the problem started, and delete posts from that day.

I deleted the post about the girls and their new new pictures I had taken. Nothing.

Then I delete the post for Jodi and VOILA...the blog is back to normal.

Very interesting connection if you ask me!
