Garden Project COMPLETED!!

It only took us FOUR years, but we finally did something with our corner garden instead of just letting the weeds have their way with it. The previous owners had a large vegetable garden, but neither Perk or I were interested in planting, growing or maintaining that large of an area for vegetables.

Last August when we bought the trampoline the corner area because its home. I got so sick of all the weeds that kept growing that we decided to finally landscape it.

First step: mow the weeks!!

 2nd step: weed barrier!

Sorry for the bad picture. I had my camera on the wrong setting!

Next Step: Mulch. And LOTS of it!

We also dug up the pavers that were in the lawn by the fence gates and placed them in our new area.

Add some Lily's and Hosta's and you're done!!
I also planted Burning Bush, Crazy-Eyed Susan and Hydrandia bushes. It should grow nice and full and have lots of color!!
We moved my swing over, added more pavers and planted lily's and hostas around.

All done!! No more crazy weeds and the kids complaining about the weed stickers. Now it's a nice area to relax and enjoy the garden in.

Little Miss Independent

This one keeps me on my toes.

She is hard headed, stubborn and very temperamental. But underneath that tough exterior she is a GIANT cuddle bug and mama's girl who wants nothing more than you to just play with her.

When she calls me Mom, it sounds like Ma'am. When she wants to swing she says "Push me in the sky ma'am"!

She loves Nemo, calls horses "neigh's" and loves to steal Chris's hat from him. She'd rather walk than ride in the stroller, ducks are something you chase and she could live off chocolate milk and string cheese if given the chance.

The tough part is she wants to be one of the BIG GIRLS and play with Anna and her friends. A little sister can be quite the drag didn't you know? Especially when that little sister is only TWO.

I think she's great!

Wearing Dad's shoes. Big shoes to fill right there!

Abby LOVES babies. She takes them everywhere. I bet this kid owns 12 baby dolls!

See what I mean about trying to be a big kid? She grabbed the neighbor girls scooter and off she went!

The other day she picked up Anna's little play backpack, brought it over to me and said "I go to school". Just like Anna, she wanted to wear a little backpack.

She's getting big! In the last few weeks her height seems to have sprouted up and all the sudden she's talking a whole lot more. Her little imagination is in full bloom. The other morning she had all her Pet Shop pet's lined up and had them talking to each other. Pretty darn funny to watch!

The words of a 5 year old

There are moments that Anna says things to me that just stops me in my tracks.

I'm making breakfast this morning she she stops, turns to me and says "Mom, I miss my grandpa's. They were such great men."

Mom, I'm going to need a bath tonight. I think that's my feet that stink!

Anna: Mom, can I have a puppy? I promise I'll feed it and play with it everyday!
Mom: We already have a dog and you don't feed her as it is.
Anna: Mom. Bear is YOUR dog.

Anna: Mom, I want to take the day off from school and Debi's.
Mom: Honey, you can't be home by yourself alone.
Anna: Mom! I can take care of myself. I can make my own lunch.
Unfortunately if left alone, her lunch would consist of pop-tarts, strawberry milk and jell-o!

This morning I told her she could ride her scooter to Debi's if she wanted. Since school is out this week for Kindergarten I figured she could play outside with the neighbor kids. So I drove along side her as she scooted her way up the street.

Mom: Anna you need to pick up the speed a bit (she started off quite slow!)
Anna: Mom, I'm in flip flops!

Anna's class was having career week and she'd come home telling me about the parents that came in: a police man, a doctor, a cake baker.
Mom: Anna, what do I do for my job?
Anna: You do things for your boss and he gives you money.

Anna: Mom will you buy this?
Mom: No honey, I don't have any money right now.
Anna: Just go to your boss and tell him you need the money to buy it.

This kid cracks me up!
